15: VIRUS HELL ... you'll be screaming for

Install all of the latest antivirus products and configure all of them on
Windows 98 & XP, from Norton Antivirus 2004, to McAfee Antivirus, to Dr. Soloman, to Corporate Antivirus products. Let’s spread multiple real viruses
in the lab and watch them have their way with our network… infect, infect,
infect, and then… it’s our turn :) Let’s prepare for the kill, and KILL THEM
! and finally, PROVE they’re gone for good, assess the damage, and finally
configure the network so this will never happen again ! You will do the
following with your own hands:
1.
Walk in to
find a totally infected network. Can you even recognize it ?
2.
Diagnose and
realize the symptoms of an infected machine
3.
Prove that
the machine is infected using the “poor-man’s” anti-virus tool kit.
4.
Test the
viral characteristics of the machine without installing any antivirus software
5.
Install
McAfee antivirus and watch it catch some, but not all viruses.
6.
Try to
install Norton antivirus and watch it fail. Correct issues and successfully
install it.
7.
Implement
manual virus removal techniques to rid those viruses still present
